Training FAQs for PMP, CAPM, and Project DPro Certifications
- General Questions
Contact hours are the actual amount of time a candidate spends receiving specific instruction in
project management. For example, if a candidate takes a 1-day class that lasts 8 hours and
provides instruction in project management, the candidate earns 8 contact hours. Contact hours
are not equal to Professional Development Units (PDUs). Test candidates can only earn contact
hours, not PDUs. Contact hours can be earned through classes, seminars, on-the-job training,
online training, and distance-learning classes that focus on Project Management or its domains.
Independent study and PMI chapter meetings are not accepted for contact hour requirements.
PMP Certification
To qualify for PMP certification, candidates must meet specific educational and professional
experience requirements accrued within the last eight consecutive years before application
submission. The qualification requirements are:
High-school diploma: 5 years (60 months) and 7,500 hours of project management
experience, plus 35 contact hours of formal education in project management or an active
CAPM holder.
Bachelor’s Degree: 3 years (36 months) and 4,500 hours of project management
experience, plus 35 contact hours of formal education in project management or an active
CAPM holder.
Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree from a GAC accredited program: 2 years (24
months) and 3,000 hours of project management experience, plus 35 contact hours of
formal education in project management or an active CAPM holder.
Duration: 4 hours
Questions: 180 questions (5 are considered pretest questions)
Break: 10 minutes
Fees: $405 for PMI Members, $555 for Non-Members
Credential Maintenance: Valid for 3 years; requires earning 60 PDUs for renewal
No supporting documentation is required when applying for PMP Exam eligibility. However, PMI
conducts random audits to verify applications. If selected, you will receive an email notification
with specific instructions and required forms to complete the audit.
PMP exam eligibility is valid for 1 year from the date of application approval. If a candidate’s
eligibility expires without taking the exam, the exam fee is non-refundable, and the candidate
forfeits the fee. They may reapply within one year of eligibility expiration by submitting a short
application form. After more than one year, a new application and full certification fee are required.
Candidates may take the PMP exam up to three times within their one-year eligibility period. Each
re-exam attempt incurs a fee: $275 for members and $375 for non-members. Candidates can
apply for re-examination at any time within this period.
PMP exams can be scheduled at Pearson Vue Centers globally, available Monday through
Saturday, excluding holidays. An Online Proctored Test is also available, allowing candidates to
take the exam from home or office. Candidates must first receive an eligibility letter before
scheduling their exam. In Tanzania, the Pearson Vue Test Center is located at Rita Tower, 16th
Floor, Makunganya Street, and Simu Street, Dar Es Salaam.
PMI determines the passing score using psychometric analysis. Project professionals worldwide
help define the number of correct answers required. Each scored question is worth one point, and
the total points determine the performance rating.
Our PMP training classes are structured to accommodate different schedules:
Bootcamp: 5 consecutive days
Evening classes: Weekdays
Weekend classes: Saturdays and Sundays, or Saturdays only
Online live classes: Interactive sessions via an online classroom
The aim is to ensure that all candidates complete the training with over 35 contact hours and
cover all five key topics required for the PMP exam.
No, the course fees cover only the PMP exam preparation. Candidates must pay the exam fees
directly to PMI during the application process.

development sector, focusing on specific needs and contexts within international development
and non-profit projects.

The Project DPro Certification was developed by esteemed project management experts with a

Reputable organizations such as Mercy Corps, Child Fund, Plan International, and Jhpiego have

Yes, candidates can retake the Project DPro exam as many times as needed if they do not pass
on the first attempt. To retake the exam, contact your trainer or invigilator to arrange for a new
exam attempt.
If you are enrolled in a training course provided by an organization, they will likely handle your
exam invigilation. For self-study candidates, an invigilator still needs to be arranged. Consult your
trainers or contact PM4NGOs for assistance in finding an invigilator.
